Okay okay.. i know it's strange. But there really is some sort of coherent thought to it. First off, those aren't eyes in the middle of the yellow areas. It's a design called a "lens" commonly used in the wide points of empty areas in celtic design. The swirls are indicative of the "la tiene" period (which had a lot of metal work), and the dragons.. well, they're just dragons.
I wanted to portray a mythological ideal of three dragons creating a world. You have the green (earth), blue (water) and orange (sky or sun) curling around a void... The red swirls are mass, the yellow, movement. The idea is there, but I'm afraid most people will think it's just plain wierd.
It does look kind of lovecraftian, but that's not what I intended but okay.. I'd just like to know what people think. I've never done this kind of swirl-iness before.
It is beautiful! I love! I am green with envy, I wish I could do designs like that...(if I could my tattoo would look at lot better) but AWESOME WORK!

Thank you very much. It has just been sitting looking at me for months with this little voice that kept saying " finisshhh meeee". So I had to.. Thanks, Jono.
That is beautifully done. Lovely colors, it's interesting how it looks faded... like a painting. It flows nicely.

i took some time to think about this, a day or few, so i could soak it up and contemplate it. that's something about this direction in your work that is very cool, in itself... that it warrants so much thought. it could well be called philosophic. it is also cnceptual art.
i like the hegelian/numerology bent of three in this concept. there is a progression, a marrage of two's to create a 3rd here that is very in line with that bent of thought. you combine that idea with the circle ... unity, and recurrence. like ouroborus (one of the oldest symbols i'm aware of).
at the same time you have very modern symbols, of matter and movement ... like maybe you see a the very ancient elements and the modern aspects of the mechanical universe and uncertainty (mass and motion) as reflections of the same thing in nature over a very long human time. just as imperfect and incapable of describing truth, or surviving the shift in perspective over time. in some sense then it could be seen as a (transient) reflection of how things are. what i had to think about a lot, and still think about continually; is this a statement of how things are? a ladder one can climb to see the truth, but once there you realize the ladder is wrong and you must throw it away? or a perfect mirror for the moment: a very personal and subjective reflection that has more intricasy than the generalities i've seen in it, but those may not be easy for others to see?
either are wonderful. in both cases it does more for me. it is a great inspiration, stirring new-again my wonder at nature.
I'm glad you took the time. And thank you about the comment about the direction. This was a lot harder in many respects because it is not so " precise", and the dragons themselves were meant to look more primitive than the other animals I've drawn.
I was going for the three thing, ancient numerology, however, it's actually six, creating a three, but that's the yin-yang. Each 1/3 has it's opposite already with it, biting it's tail. and the idea of recurrence goes hand in hand with it, much like the ouroborus. Other than that, I hadn't thought further. I had seen a connected spiral design on some metal work in researching celtic designs, and it made me think of really murky water, the movement and shades.. which made me think of primordial ooze and the generation of life, which made me think of a great chinese snake uncoiling and the numerous mythos that surround life/earth being created.. and it just sort fell from there which is greatly overthinking it on my part.. i think. However, it had been put down as something I wouldn't finish until I saw your Ring of Flame, which resembles it in movement, to me. And I picked it back up again. So, in effect, I probably would have finished it, but maybe years down the road .. thanks.
And I'm sorry I'm not more coherent, you just.. used.. reallly big words.. and I'm still watching Tom & Jerry..
Thank you.
